Pranitha Subhash is an Indian film actress, model and entrepreneur[1] who predominantly appears in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films. She was raised in Bangalore and pursued a career in modelling before plunging into films. 

She debuted as an actor in the 2010 Kannada film, Porki, a remake of Telugu film Pokiri, and in the same year starred in the Telugu film, Em Pillo Em Pillado. Her Tamil debut was with the film Udhayan (2011). She went on to appear in several commercially successful Telugu films like Baava (2010) and Attarintiki Daredi (2013).

In 2012, she starred in a critically acclaimed parallel cinema, Bheema Theeradalli for which she was nominated for Filmfare award for Best Kannada actress and SIIMA award for Best Kannada actress.

Early life and family[edit]

Pranitha was born into a Kannadiga family. Her father Subhash is a physician and her mother Jayashri is a Gynaecologist. They run a hospital in Bangalore. She is the only child of her parents.

Career[edit]

Pranitha Subhash made her debut in films with the 2010 Kannada film Porki, a remake of the Telugu blockbuster film Pokiri, opposite Darshan. 

After the success of Porki, she refused several offers from Kannada films and became choosy about her projects before signing the Telugu film Baava, a love story where she starred opposite Siddharth.[2] She was praised unanimously for her portrayal of a Telugu village belle in the film. She then went on to appear in her first Tamil film, Udhayan starring Arulnithi.[3]

She was then signed up for her second Tamil project Saguni opposite Karthi which released in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Saguni was her biggest release: a film that released in a record 1,150 theaters all over the world.

She then appeared in Jarasandha and Bheema Theeradalli, a real-life story of a naxalite, both opposite Duniya Vijay. Pranitha was praised for her portrayal of Bheemavva by critics and won a Filmfare nomination for the same.[4] She won the Santosham award that year for Bheema Theeradalli.


She then acted in the Kannada film Whistle for which she earned a nomination at the SIIMA awards.

After this, she appeared in the Telugu language film Attarintiki Daredi which was released in September 2013 and went on to become the Highest grossing Telugu language film of all time collecting over ₹100 crore. It also won her nominations at various award events. The film is being remade in other languages.

During the same time, she worked on a Kannada film Brahma opposite Upendra. She also worked on Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda starring Raveena Tandon and Mohan Babu in which she was paired opposite Manchu Manoj. Both the films fared well. After a brief gap of two years she signed another Tamil film Masss opposite Suriya in late November 2014.[5] In late 2014 she signed a Telugu film Dynamite opposite Manchu Vishnu.[6]

In late June 2015 she the Telugu film Brahmotsavam featuring Mahesh Babu.[7]

Pranitha Subhash has endorsed brands like Joyalukkas, SVB Silks Salem, Bombay Jewellery, Welight Academy of Education, Sri Lakshmi Jewellery, Pondichery and RS Brothers. She was signed as the brand ambassador of the team Karnataka Bulldozers in the Celebrity Cricket League in its third season in 2013.[8

] In October 2014, Pranitha along with Anu Prabhakar was selected as the ambassador for the Jewels of India - a fashion jewellery exhibition in Bangalore.[9] Pranitha was the brand ambassador of Jewels Exotica the following year. She was the face of GRB and Lulu mall among others.

Actress Pranitha Subash met with an accident while she was travelling in a car in Mothey village in Nalgonda district. The actress was returning after inaugurating a showroom with her assistants when the car hit a speeding bike. The car went out of control, flipped sideways and fell into a ditch. Fortunately, there were no major injuries to Pranitha but one of her staff member was badly injured and rushed to the nearby hospital.
Later, the actress shared a few photos from the scene and posted on Twitter, “While on our way back from Kammam. Perfectly fine hence able to tweet :))) but unable to come out of the shock. My hairstylist is injured and has been rushed to the hospital nearby. Big thank you to the AEEs working on this road for calling the ambulance on time. My staff has survived injuries. But we are all safe”.

Pranitha reached Hyderabad and caught a flight to Chennai to attend an awards function the same day.
The car in which Tollywood actor Pranitha Subhas was travelling from Khammam to Hyderabad met with an accident at Mothey in Nalgonda District on Sunday afternoon, but she escaped with minor injuries,

Her kin and other staff members travelling in the car with her suffered injuries and were treated in Hyderabad. The actor had cone to Khammam to inaugurate a shop VRK Silks and was on her way back when this incident took place.

Actor Junior NTR's vehicle also had also met with a similar accident in this village after campaigning for Telugu Desam during elections. He had sustained injuries then. The road from Khammam to Suryapet was also not good and had sharp curve, and at the curve a motorcycle came in front of the vehicle. In a bid to avoid the accident driver veered to his left leading to the incident, but since the actor had fastened her seat belt, she escaped with minor injuries.
