Simple Kapadia (15 August 1958 – 10 November 2009) was a Bollywood actress and costume designer.

Simple Kapadia made her acting debut in 1977 at the age of 18 in the role of Sumitha Mathur in the film Anurodh, with her brother-in-law, actor Rajesh Khanna. Her career as an actress spanned for almost 10 years. She starred in Shaaka in 1981 opposite Jeetendra.

She had secondary roles in movies including Jeevan Dhara, Hum Rahe Na Hum and Dulha Bikta Hai in which she performed a qawali dance. In 1985 she starred in alternate cinema movie Rehguzar opposite Shekhar Suman. After more than 20 movies, her final role was an item song for the movie Parakh in 1987; she then became a costume designer, and designed for actors including Tabu, Amrita Singh, Sridevi and Priyanka Chopra.

In 1994 she won a National Award for her costume design in Rudaali. She later designed for Bollywood movies including Rok Sako To Rok Lo and Shaheed.

Her elder sister is actress Dimple Kapadia. She was the aunt of Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna.

Simple Kapadia was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, but continued working despite the pain. She died in a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai on 10 November 2009.

Simple Kapadia( born 1958) was one of leading costume designers of Bollywood and has been one of the most remarkable actresses of the 70s-80s era. Simple's sister Dimple Kapadia and her two nieces Twinkle Khanna and Rinke khanna are all bollywood actresses.

Simple Kapadia was born on the 15th of August 1958. 








She made her debut 18 years later in "Anurodh" co starring with her then brother-in- law, Rajesh Khanna. 

The film was however a terrible flop due to the poor scenario but very unjustly, all the blame was put on her, an 18 year old girl...terribly unjust, because Simple did really well in that film and was a naturally talented actress.

 Critics bombarded her with very negative comments. Any other actress, especially so young, would have given up...but not Simple Kapadia.








She did a minor role in "Ahsaas" and then showed in 1981, her talent in "Shaaka" where she was the leading lady. She played the role of the sweetest & sexiest thief ever and exposed her array of acting talents. 

Several scenes on her in that movie are unforgettable. She acted in several movies after that and she did a wide range of roles- although these were secondary ones, most of the time she eclipsed the other actresses due to her beauty and talent.

"Tumhare Bina" where she was a sexy dancer in the song"Sweet Seventeen".

"Lootmaar" is another landmark in her acting career. 
She played a vamp and her performance in the song" 
Jab chayye Mera jadu" was so astounding and breathtaking that 
she has remained in every bollywood lover's mind until today.

Despite several offers and after more than 20 movies, she decided to end her acting career in 1987 after performing in an item song for the movie Parakh.

Her resourcefulness being infinite, she decided to start a career as a Costume Designer. At first, she was doing costumes for her sister Dimple. Slowly, her reputation grew as a costume designer and it culminated in 1994 when she won a National Award for her costume design in Rudaali. 

Later, she distinguished herself in movies such as Shaheed which made her one of the most sought designers of Bollywood.

Simple Kapadia was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. Despite this, she was still designing costumes for movies. After four years of very courageously battling cancer, she died peacefully in a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai on 10 November 2009.
