..பூஜா சோப்ரா (Pooja Chopra) (பிறப்பு மே 3. 1986) என்பவர் இந்தியத் திரைப்பட நடிகை ஆவார். இவர் மிஸ் பெமினா பட்டம் (அழகுப் போட்டி) பெற்றவர். 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டில் நடைபெற்ற உலக அழகிப் போட்டியின் காலிறுதிப் போட்டிவரை சென்றார். மேலும் காரண அழகியல் (பியூட்டி வித் எ பர்போஸ்) எனும் விருதினை ஜோகானஸ்பேர்க், தென்னாப்பிரிக்காவில் நடைபெற்ற 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டின் உலக அழகிப் போட்டியில் பெற்றார்.[2][3] இவர் ஒரே ஆண்டில் எட்டிற்கும் அதிகமான தேசிய மற்றும் சர்வதேச விருதுகளைப் பெற்றுளார்.

ஆரம்பகால வாழ்க்கை

பூஜா சோப்ரா மே 3. 1986 இல் கொல்கத்தாவில் பிறந்தார். இவர் இரண்டாவது பெண்குழந்தையாக இருந்ததனால் இவரது தந்தை இவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்து விட்டார். தனது தாய் நீரா சோப்ராதான் தனது முன்மாதிரி எனக் கூறியுள்ளார். இவரின் தந்தை இவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்த உடன் பிறந்து இருபது நாட்களே ஆன பூஜா சோப்ராவையும் , ஏழு வயதான சுர்பாவையும் தன்னுடன் அழைத்துச் சென்றுவிட்டார். பின்

இவரது தந்தை, இரு மகன்கள் உள்ள ஒரு பெண்ணைத் திருமணம் செய்துகொண்டார். [4] பூஜா சோப்ரா பிறந்த மூன்று நாட்கள் வரை எந்த உறவினரும் மருத்துவமனைக்கு வந்து பார்க்கவில்லை என்றும் இவரின் படுக்கைக்கு எதிரில் இருந்த ஒழுங்கணித் தலைவரின் மனைவி தான் பூஜாவிற்கான ஆடைகளைக் கொடுத்ததாகவும் இவரின் தாய் தி டைம்ஸ் ஆஃப் இந்தியாவிற்கு அளித்த நேர்காணல் ஒன்றில் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். [5] இவரது குடும்பம் மும்பை சென்றது. அங்கு தனது பாட்டி வீட்டில் வளர்ந்தார். பின் இவர் புனே, மகாராட்டிரத்தில் தங்கினார்.[6]

தொழில் வாழ்க்கை
2009- 2012

பூஜா சோப்ரா 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டின் பெமினா மிஸ் இந்தியா பட்டம் (அழகுப் போட்டி) பெற்றார். இந்தப் போட்டியானது பெப்ரவரி 17, 2009 இல் கொல்கத்தாவில் நடைபெற்றது. மேலும் இவர் மிஸ் பெர்ஃபெக்ட் 10, மிஸ் கேட்வாக், மிஸ் பியூட்டிஃபுல் ஸ்மைல் (புன்னகை அழகி) , தல்வாகர்ஸ் சிறந்த உடல்வாகு பட்டம் போன்ற பல போட்டிகளில் வென்றுள்ளார். இந்த வெற்றிகளின் மூலம் 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டின் பெமினா இந்திய அழகி போட்டிக்கான போட்டியில் இவர் நேரடியாக இறுதிப் போட்டிக்குத் தகுதி பெற்றார். டிசம்பர் 12, 2009 உலக அழகிப் போட்டியின் இறுதிச் சுற்றுக்கு ஒரு வாரத்திற்கு முன்னர் விமானப் படிக்கட்டில் ஏறும் போது கணுக்காலில் முறிவு ஏற்பட்டது. மருத்துவர்கள் மூன்று வாரம் முழுவதுமாக ஓய்வு எடுக்க வேண்டும் என அறிவுறுத்தினர். ஆனால் சோப்ரா அந்த போட்டியில் கலந்துகொண்டார். உலக அழகித் தேர்வுக்குழு நிறுவனத்தின் அதிகாரியான ஜூலியா மார்லீ , சோப்ராவை நடனப் பிரிவில் கலந்துகொள்ள வேண்டாம் என அறிவுறுத்தினார்.[8] மொத்தம் இருந்த நூற்றுப் பன்னிரண்டு போட்டியாளர்களில் பதினாறு நபர்கள் இறுதிப்போட்டிக்குத் தகுதிபெற்றனர். அதில் சோப்ராவும் ஒருவர்.

இவரின் முதல் தமிழ்த் திரைப்படம் 2011 ஆம் ஆண்டில் வெளிவந்த பொன்னர் சங்கர் (திரைப்படம்) ஆகும்.[9] இதில் இளவரசி முத்தாயி வேடத்தில் தியாகராஜனுடன் இணைந்து நடித்திருப்பார். இந்தத் திரைப்படத்திற்கான கதையினை எழுதியவர் தமிழ்நாட்டின் முன்னாள் முதலமைச்சர் மு. கருணாநிதி ஆவார். இந்தத் திரைப்படத்தை இயகியவர் தியாகராஜன்.[10] இதில் பிரசாந்த் விஜயகுமார் , பொன்வண்ணன் , பிரகாஷ் ராஜ் ஆகியோர் முக்கியக் கதாப்பத்திரத்தில் நடித்தனர். இதற்கு முன்பாக ஃபேஷன் மற்றும் ஹீரோயின் (நடிகை) எனும் பாலிவுட் திரைப்படங்களில் முக்கியக் கதாப்பாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளார்.[11]

Nivetha Pethuraj was born in Kovilpatti [2]. She spent early schooling in Thoothukudi,[3] settled in Dubai for over 13 years. She attended Dubai’s Crescent English High School and holds a degree in human resources management from Heriot Watt University in Dubai

I’ve wanted to enter pageants since I was five years old and this is like a dream come true,”

the 23-year-old from Chennai said. “I want to pursue a career in acting and modelling and this is going to help me a lot.” Ms Pethuraj is an alumna of Our Own Indian School in Dubai and holds a management degree from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. She works as a VIP attendant for fashion brands. She beat 15 other contestants to the title. The competition was open to all single Indian women between the ages of 18 and 25 years who reside in the UAE. “She was a complete package,” said Shonal Rawat, former Miss Asia Pacific who helped judge the pageant with other Indian celebrities.

“She had poise and presence.” The contestants spent one week training for the pageant held at Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi, with some sessions lasting up to 12 hours. Their transformation, at the hands of expert hairstylists, choreographers and fashion designers, was broadcast in a video presentation during the event showing before and after photos. “Most of them are new to this profession, so what we’re trying to do is to show them the business,” said Eisha Ramrakhiani, spokeswoman for the event. “Most of them are very keen to get into the world of modelling and acting, to try out for auditions and things like that, so we’re prepping them. We are training them how to walk, how to groom themselves, how to talk, how to audition well when they go for castings.” The first round of the pageant featured the young women in high heels and traditional Indian dresses in bold reds, pinks and orange adorned in gold detailing and brilliant chandelier earrings. Many wore dazzling maang tikkas, an Indian hair ornament that dangles over the forehead.

Then came one of the most nerve-racking rounds, in which each woman strides to centre stage, faces the audience of about 250 admirers under hot spotlights and briefly introduces herself. For a couple of the contestants, the pressure was enough to make them repeat or forget their lines, sometimes standing in awkward silence. The sympathetic audience cheered them in these moments, sometimes helping then to refocus. “It’s hard enough coming up on stage in front of hundreds of people, but when you do it with eight layers of make-up and five-inch heels, believe it, that’s a task in itself,” said Malavika Varadan Sharma of Dubai radio station City 101.6, who acted as co-host for the event. In the second round, the young women showed off their Bollywood dance moves in a synchronised number set to a compilation of musical hits. Finally, they paraded in evening gowns before the judges eliminated all but five contestants. The final five were put through a question-and-answer session in which they were asked about the battle of the sexes, retirement policies in India and choices they have made that changed their lives.

One simple question that elicited a complex answer from one of them was: “Where is home?” “To me my heart belongs in India, definitely, but I cannot leave the life I have over here and go back because of the comfort that the UAE has given me and I don’t believe any other place can ever do that,” said Jyotsna Arora, 23. “My dance, my engineering, basically my entire life, who I am right now is because of the UAE, so I owe a lot. So my heart might be in Delhi, but my soul, my everything is in the UAE.” Ms Arora was second runner-up and Stephanie Lahole, 18, was crowned first runner-up. Ms Pethuraj will represent the UAE at the Miss India [4]

Persis Khambatta (2 October 1948 – 18 August 1998) was an Indian model, actress and author.[1] She was known for her role as Lieutenant Ilia in the 1979 feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Early life[edit source]

Persis Khambatta was born into a middle-class Parsi home in Mumbai, then known as Bombay. Her father left the family when she was two years old.[2] She first gained fame when a set of her pictures casually taken by a well-known Bombay photographer[who?] was used for a successful campaign for a popular soap brand. This led eventually to her becoming a model. She entered and won the Femina Miss India contest in 1965. She was the second winner of Femina Miss India and third Indian woman to participate in the Miss Universe pageant. At the Femina Miss India contest, she also won the Miss Photogenic award.[3]

Khambatta's first appearance at age 13 in advertisements for the soap brand Rexona set her on her way to becoming a popular model. At age 17, as Femina Miss India, Khambatta entered Miss Universe 1965, dressed in off-the-rack clothes she bought at the last minute. She became a model for companies such as Air India, Revlon, and Garden Vareli.

As Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Khambatta made her Bollywood début in director K. A. Abbas's Bambai Raat Ki Bahon Mein (1967),[4] playing cabaret singer Lily who croons the film's title track. She had small roles in 1975's Conduct Unbecoming and The Wilby Conspiracy. She went on to have a brief movie career that included the role for which she is most recognized, the bald Deltan navigator Lieutenant Ilia, in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). She shaved her head for the role. She was originally signed to play the role for five years, as the intention was to create a new Star Trek TV series. 

Khambatta said that she was thrilled when the project became a movie instead, because it would have greater impact on her career, but she also recognised that she had lost five years' work.[5] Khambatta became the first Indian citizen to present an Academy Award in 1980. She was nominated for Saturn Award for Best Actress for her role in Star Trek. This led to roles in Nighthawks (1981), Megaforce (1982), Warrior of the Lost World (1983), and Phoenix the Warrior (1988). She was considered for the title role in the James Bond film Octopussy (1983), but was passed over in favor of Maud Adams.

Khambatta was seriously injured in a car crash in Germany in 1980, which left a huge scar on her head. In 1983, she underwent coronary bypass surgery. She returned to Bombay in 1985, and appeared in the Hindi television series Shingora opposite Aditya Pancholi and Marc Zuber. Soon after, Khambatta returned to Hollywood and performed in guest roles on various television series such as Mike Hammer and MacGyver. In 1997 she wrote and published a coffee table book, Pride of India, which featured several former Miss India winners.

 The book was dedicated to Mother Teresa, and part of the royalties went to the Missionaries of Charity. Her final appearance in an acting part was that of Chair of the Congress of Nations in the 1993 pilot episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Personal life[edit source]

She married Hollywood actor Cliff Taylor only weeks after meeting him in June 1981. Two months later they filed for divorce.[6] Sandy Naren was her second husband and they lived in Des Moines, Iowa, for a while where she did office work.













Death[edit source]

In 1998, Khambatta was taken to the Marine Hospital in south Bombay, complaining of chest pains. She died of a heart attack on 18 August 1998 at the age of 49.[7] Her funeral was held in Bombay the following day.[7]
