Devyani Rana (Nepali: देवयानी राणा) is the second daughter of Pashupati Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana and Rani Usha Raje Scindia, daughter of Jivajirao Scindia, the last maharaja of Gwalior, and the wife of Kunwar Aishwarya Singh of Singrauli. News reports in 2001 had suggested that the Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal wanted to marry her, but his parents, as well as Devyani's mother, did not agree.

By her father, Devyani was born as a member of the Rana dynasty.[1] Her mother, Usha Raje Scindia, is a daughter of George Jivajirao Scindia, Maharaja of Gwalior.[3][4] She has one sibling, her older sister, Urvashi Rajya Lakshmi.

Her paternal great-grandfather was Mohan Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana.

The film will be based on the popular book ” Mailey dhekeko durbar”  The film titled ‘Dipendra Sarkar’ will be made in the budget of  5.5 crore. Pradeep Khadka will play the titular role of Dipendra in the movie. The real story suggests Shah’s choice of bride was Devyani Rana, daughter of Pashupati Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana, a member of the Rana clan. Dipendra was denied his choice of a wife by his mother Queen

Reports of Crown Prince Dipendra wanting to marry her
Dipendra was in England between 1987 and 1990, and his local guardian was Baronet, Sir Jeremy Bagge,[5] whose son was also at Eton. Bagge's daughter was a friend of Devyani who was also studying in England.[6] Dipendra and Devyani met at the Bagges' Norfolk home, and Dipendra quickly fell in love with her and asked her to marry him. However, Dipendra's parents, and especially his mother Aishwarya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah (born Rana), opposed the marriage. Devyani's friends also began to suspect Dipendra was sexually assaulting her, although she denied it.[6][7]

According to an article in the 30 July 2001 New Yorker and other published reports, the refusal of Dipendra's parents to consent to this marriage was the cause of the massacre of the royal family in Nepal.[citation needed] However a 2009 report based on an interview with his cousin Paras Shah suggested that there may have been other reasons as well.[8] A book "Maile Dekheko Darbar" by former Secretary to the King Birendra suggests that Dipendra may have had significant personality problems.[9]

Post massacre
Devyani Rana fled to India immediately after the royal massacre to escape media attention. In 2004, Rana obtained a second master's degree from the London School of Economics. She was reported to have been working for the United Nations Development Programme in India in 2012.[10]

Personal life
On 23 February 2007, Rana married Kunwar Aishwarya Singh of Singrauli, the son of Raja Bhuvneshwar Prasad Singh and Rani Veena Singh, a royal from the erstwhile state of Singrauli and the grandson of former Indian Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh, a royal from the erstwhile state of Churhat.[11] The wedding took place at the Scindia Villa, New Delhi.[12]

In 2017, it has was reported that Devyani Rana had become an active member of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N).[1

The Battle of Khanwa took place at Khanwa, near Fatehpur-Sikri, on 16 March 1527. Before the battle, Babur had carefully inspected the site. Like in Panipat, he strengthened his front by procuring carts that were fastened by iron chains (not leather straps, as at Panipat) in the Ottoman fashion. These were used for providing shelter to horses and for storing artillery. Gaps between the carts were used for horsemen to charge at the opponent at an opportune time. To lengthen the line, ropes made of rawhide were placed over wheeled wooden tripods. Behind the tripods, matchlock men were placed who could fire and, if required, advance. The flanks were given protection by digging ditches. In addition to the regular force, small contingents were kept apart on the left flank and in front for the tulghuma (flanking) tactic. Thus, a strong offensive-defensive formation had been prepared by Babur. Rana Sanga, fighting in a traditional way, attacked the Mughal army's flanks. He was prevented from breaking through by reinforcements dispatched by Babur. Once the advance of the Rajputs and their Afghan allies had been contained, Babur's flanking tactic came into play. The carts and matchlock men were ordered to advance, hemming in the Rajputs and their allies. At about this time Silhadi of Raisen deserted the Ranas army and went over to Babur's. Despite putting up a gallant fight, Rana Sanga and his allies suffered a disastrous defeat. Following his victory, Babur ordered a tower of enemy skulls to be erected, a practice formulated by Timur against his adversaries, irrespective of their religious beliefs. According to Chandra, the objective of constructing a tower of skulls was not just to record a great victory, but also to terrorize opponents. Earlier, the same tactic had been used by Babur against the Afghans of Bajaur.[11][page needed]

Aftermath
The Battle of Khanwa demonstrated that Rajput bravery was not enough to counter Babur's superior generalship and organizational skills. Babur himself commented:
Swordsmen though some Hindustanis maybe, most of them are ignorant and unskilled in military move and stand, in soldierly counsel and procedure.

[13] Rana Sanga managed to evade capture and escape to Chittor, but the grand alliance he had built collapsed. Quoting Rushbrook Williams, Chandra writes:
The powerful confederacy which depended so largely for its unity upon the strength and reputation of Mewar, was shattered by a single defeat and ceased henceforth to be a dominant factor in the politics of Hindustan.

On 30 January 1528 Rana Sanga died in Chittor, apparently poisoned by his own chiefs, who held his plans of renewing the fight with Babur to be suicidal.[11]

It is suggested that had it not been for the cannon of Babur, Rana Sanga might have achieved victory. Pradeep Barua notes that Babur's cannon put an end to outdated trends in Indian warfare.[14]

Ramanaidu "Rana" Daggubati (born 14 December 1984[4]), is an Indian actor,[5] producer, television personality, visual effects co-ordinator, and an entrepreneur[6] known primarily for his work in Telugu cinema, as well as his works in Hindi cinema and Tamil cinema.[7][8]

He made his acting debut with the Telugu blockbuster Leader, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. He made his Hindi film debut with the hit film Dum Maaro Dum (2011), alongside Bipasha Basu, where he received positive reviews for his performance and won again Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut. In 2012, Rana gained prominence by starring in hit Telugu film Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum. In 2015, he played a notable supporting role in the successful Hindi film Baby (2015). He later starred as the main antagonist in Telugu film Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), which recorded the second highest gross opening for an Indian film. He then featured in a supporting role in Tamil film Bangalore Naatkal (2016). Rana's first movie was Leader, in Telugu, directed by Shekhar Kammula, which is one of his biggest successes. Rana made his Bollywood debut with the film Dum Maaro Dum, which released on 22 April 2011. The Times of India called it a "dashing debut".[24] He was voted "The Most Promising Newcomer of 2011" in the Times Of India poll.[25] He was listed at number 20 on the Times of India's Most Desirable Men for the year 2011.[26][27] In 2012, he was voted as the 10th most desirable man in India, in the poll conducted by The Times of India.

He played a professional killer in the film Nenu Naa Rakshasi, under Puri Jagannath's direction,[28] which was a box office bomb.[29][30] His first release in 2012 was Naa Ishtam, which was followed by his second Hindi film Department. After Baahubali 2's epic release, he further did a Telugu political Thriller movie Nene Raju Nene Mantri in which he plays a Politician with grey shades, alongside Kajal Aggarwal. This film too received positive reviews for Rana's acting and screen presence. The film, also called NRNM, was also released in Tamil as Naan Aanaiyittal and in Malayalam as Raja Kireedam. It was also dubbed into Hindi as Main Hi Raja Main Hi Mantri. Along with the movies, he also starred in a web series called Social. Further, he hosted a Telugu Television programme, No 1. Yaari, which created the highest TVP values for a Telugu TV show. He also dubbed for the character Thanos in the Telugu dubbed version of Avengers: Infinity War.

In 2019, he was signed for a mythological film 'Hiranyakashyapa' directed by Gunasekhar. In the movie, Rana will be playing the titular role of Hiranyakashipu.[
