  PALAKKAD ,SULTAN FORT HISTORY 1766 திப்பு சுல்தான் கோட்டை வரலாறு பாலக்காடு சுற்றுலா இடங்கள் இத்தகைய சிறப்புமிக்க பாலக்காட்டில் நகரத்தின் மத்தியில் அமைந்துள்ளது தான் இந்த பாலக்காட்டுக் கோட்டை. 1766 ல் “ஹைதர் அலி” என்ற முஸ்லிம் அரசனால் கருங்கற்கள் கொண்டு கட்டப்பட்ட கோட்டையானது இன்றளவும் உறுதியுடன் உள்ளது. இதனை “திப்புக்கோட்டை” என்று மக்கள் அழைக்கிறார்கள்.இந்தக் கோட்டை ஏன்? எதற்காக இங்கு எழுப்பப்பட்டது. இதனின் வரலாற்று அம்சம் என்ன என்பது இதுவரை அறியப்படாத ஒன்றாகவே உள்ளது.அதனை பற்றிய வரலாற்று பக்கங்களை இனி காணலாம். 1756 ஆம் ஆண்டில், கோழிக்கோட்டின் ஜாமோரினுடன் தொடர்ச்சியான மோதல்களால் சோர்ந்துபோன, பாலக்காடு மன்னர் இத்திக்கொம்பி ஆச்சன், திண்டிகுலில் மைசூர் படைகளின் தளபதியாக இருந்த ஹைதர் அலியை உதவிக்கு அழைக்க முடிவு செய்தார். பாலக்காட்டை தன் வசமாக்கிக் கொள்ள தனக்குள் துடித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த ஹைதர் அலி இந்த சந்தர்ப்பத்தை பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள தீர்மானம் செய்தார்.பாலக்காடு அச்சனுக்கு உதவி செய்வதுபோல் உள்ளே நுழைந்தார் . கட்டாய மத மாற்றத்திற்கு அனைவரையும் உட்படுத்தினார் மாற மறுத்தவர்களை கொடுமையான ...

During the war, the British national debt increased more than four fold, rising from £72,289,673 (equal to £10.1 billion today) to almost £329,586,789 by 1764 (equal to £42 billion today).[7] Post-war expenses were expected to remain high because the Bute ministry decided in early 1763 to keep ten thousand British regular soldiers in the American colonies, which would cost about £225,000 per year, equal to £30 million today.[8]  The primary reason for retaining such a large force was that demobilizing the army would put 1,500 officers out of work, many of whom were well-connected in Parliament.[9] This made it politically prudent to retain a large peacetime establishment, but...
