  ABRAHAM LINCOLN ,ABOLISHER OF SLAVERY  BORN 1809 FEBRUARY 12 - 1865 APRIL 15 ஆபிரகாம் லிங்கன் (Abraham Lincoln, பெப்ரவரி 12, 1809 — ஏப்ரல் 15, 1865) ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவின் 16 வது குடியரசுத் தலைவர் ஆவார். இவர் அடிமை முறைக்கு எதிர்ப்புத் தெரிவித்து அதனை ஒழிக்க முனைந்தவர்களில் ஒருவர். 1860ல் மேற்கு மாநிலங்களில் தலைவராக இருந்த இவர் குடியரசுக் கட்சியின் வேட்பாளராகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டு அமெரிக்காவின் குடியரசுத் தலைவராக வெற்றி பெற்றார். ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவைப் பிளவுபடாமல் காக்க, தென் மாநிலப் பிரிவினைக் கருத்தாளர்களை எதிர் கொண்டு உள்நாட்டுப் போர் நடத்தி வெற்றி பெற்றவர். இவர் 1863ல் அடிமைகள் விடுதலை பெற புகழ்பெற்ற விடுதலை எழுச்சி அறிவிப்பு ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டார். அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து 1865இல் ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவின் 13 வது அரசியல் சட்டத் திருத்தத்தின் வழி அடிமை முறையை ஒழித்தார். இவருடைய தலைவருக்கான பண்புகளை அறிய இவர் நடத்திய உள்நாட்டுப் போர், மற்றும் அடிமை முறையை எதிர்த்து இவர் நாட்டு மக்களுக்கு விழிப்பு ஏற்படுத்து வகையில் எழுப்பிய குரலும் முக்கியமானவை. கெட்டிஸ்பர்க் சொற்பொழிவு எனப் புகழ்பெற்ற இவர் ...

William Ewart Gladstone , Prime Minister of England in four times William Ewart Gladstone, the fourth son of Sir John Gladstone, was born in Liverpool on 29th December, 1809. Gladstone was a MP and a successful merchant. The Gladstones were a rich family, their fortune based on transatlantic corn and tobacco trade and on the slave-labour sugar plantations they owned in the West Indies. (1) John Gladstone was a devout Presbyterian, but there was no Scottish church in Liverpool and in 1792 he and other Scots living in the city organised the building of a Scottish chapel and the Caledonian School opposite it for the education of their children. (2) Gladstone was therefore born into an evangelical family who held strong religious beliefs. He later wrote: "The Evangelical movement... did not ally itself with literature, art and general cultivation; but it harmonized well with the money-getting pursuits."
