THE STORY OF SRILANKA , PANDARA VANNIYAN தாய்மண் மீது அடங்காப் பற்றுக் கொண்டு இறுதிவரை போராடிய பண்டார வன்னியன். ஒரு நாட்டில் ஓர் இனத்தின் வரலாற்றுப்பாதைகளைப் புரட்டினால் அதில் பல்வேறு உணர்வுகள் வெளிப்படுத்தப்படுவதினை எவராலும் மறுக்க முடியாது. அதுவும் இலங்கைத் தீவில் தமிழினத்தின் வரலாறுகள், துன்பங்கள், துயரங்கள் நிறைந்திருந்தாலும் வீரஞ்செறிந்த நிகழ்வுகளும் ஏராளம் நடந்தேறியுள்ளன. வரலாற்றுக்கு முற்பட்ட காலத்தில் இராவணனின் வரலாறு, அதன் பின்பு அனுராதபுரத்தில் நீதி தவறாமல் 44 ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சி புரிந்த எல்லாளன் வரலாறு. யாழ்ப்பாணத்தை ஆண்ட சங்கிலியனின் வரலாறு, வன்னியை ஆண்ட மாவீரன் பண்டார வன்னியன் வரலாறு என்பன உயர்ந்தவை. இவர்களின் வரலாற்றை மீட்டுப் பார்த்தால் அதில் பல புனிதத் தன் மைகள் புலப் படுகின்றன. நாம் பண் டார வன்னி யனின் வர லாற்றினை அவரது நினைவு நாளில் நிலை நிறுத்திக் கொள்வோம். இலங்கையில் புராதன காலத்தில் காணப்பட்ட இராச்சியங்களில் அடங்காப்பற்று எனப்படும் வன்னிராச்சிய வரலாறுகள் வித்தியாசமானவை. இலங்கையில் வடபகுதியின் வடக்கே ஆனையிறவு பரவைக் கடலையும் கிழக்கே முல்லைத்தீவு...

PANDARA VANNIYAN , LAST KING OF VANNI  DIED 1811 OCTOBER 31 Biography[edit source] Kulasegaram Vairamuthu Pandara Vanniyan was the last King of Vanni. Much remains unclear about his family, but reports state that he had one sister, Nallanachal Vanniyan, and two younger brothers called Kayilaya Vanniyan (Minister) and Periya Meynaar (Commander of the State).[5] Pandara Vanniyan married Kumarasinghe Maha Vanniya’s family of present day Nuwara Wewa, who held the office of residential Governor and Custodian of the formerly Tamil area. Marriages between Vanniar Chieftain families in the northern and southern regions helped to unite and strengthen rule. Thus, when Pandara Vanniyan married into the Nuwara Wewa family, he gained political power in the south Vanni as well as in the north.
