Charmila, with her cute smile, attractive eyes and lovely features entered easily into the hearts of film viewers as the heroine of Dhanam,  a film written by A.K.Lohithadas and directed by Sibi Malayil in which Mohan Lal was the hero in 1991.

It was the debut film of her in Malayalam which became a super-hit  but before that she had a couple of films in Tamil like'Oylattam' and Kizhakke Varum Pattu'.
Charmila was born to Veterinary doctor Manoharan on october 2  in a Malayali 
Syrian Catholic family settled in Chennai.

She had her education at Holy Angels Convent and Ethiraj College for Women.Debut film was Tamil film'Oylattam'.
In the same year she acted opposite Jayaram in the movie 'Keli' which was directed by Bharathan.Jayaram acted as a handicapped young man running a small shop and fell in love with Sreedevi (Charmila)  who was the member of a respectable wealthy family and the consequences was the theme of the film.
In the film Uncle Bun she again acted opposite Mohan Lal in 1991 and the film was a big hit which drew much attention because of the makeup of Mohan Lal depicted as a very fatty man.
In the film ' Kabuliwala' (93) she acted opposite Vineeth and the film was directed by Siddique-Lal.The story revolves round a circus tent and the artists there and in the film  Jagathi,Innocent,Captain Raju,M.G.Soman,Nedumudi,Sukumari etc acted along with Vineeth and Charmila.In several action films she acted as heroine to Babu Antony.

In the super hit movie Kambolam (94) directed by Baiju Kottarakkara, Babu Antony was the hero and Vijayaraghavan and Vinu Chakravarthy also acted.
In the romantic film about the life of fishermen 'Kadal' written and directed by Siddique Shameer, in 1994 Babu Antony and Charmila were the lead pair.

Sai Kumar was the hero of 'Thiru Manassu' directed by Aswathi Gopinath in 1995 and Charmila the heroine.
'Special Squad' was an action movie in which Babu Antony and Charmila paired and in another action film 'Peter Scott' directed by Baiju Viswanath, she acted as the female lead.
In the comedy film 'Kalamasseriyil Kalyana Yogam' (95), Mukesh was the hero and Prem Kumar supported him.Charmila was the heroine of this hit film.

Balu Kiriyath was the director of this film.
In the comedy drama 'Gajaraja Manthram' Prem Kumar,Jagadish,Kalabhavan Mani and Charmila acted in prime roles.Thaha directed the film.
In this year 2014, she acts in 'Vikramadithyan' along with Dulquer Salmaan,Unni Mukundan,Namitha Pramod etc in character role and the film director is Lal Jose.
