ராஜஸ்ரீ – சில‌ப்ப‌திகார‌த்‌தி‌ன் கதையை மையமாக வை‌த்து வெ‌ளியான ‌த‌மி‌ழ்த் ‌திரை‌ப்பட‌ம் பூ‌‌ம்புகா‌ர். இப்பட‌த்‌தி‌ல் மாத‌வியாக நடி‌த்து புக‌ழ்பெ‌ற்ற ‌பழ‌ம்பெற்ற நடிகை ராஜஸ்ரீ‌. ப‌ல்வேறு பட‌ங்க‌ளி‌ல் நடி‌த்து ம‌க்க‌ள் மனதை‌க் கவ‌ர்‌ந்தவ‌ர். தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, கன்னடம், மலையாள மொழிகளில் முந்நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட படங்களில் நடித்தவர்.

“”ராஜஸ்ரீ பிறந்தது ஆந்திராவில் உள்ள ஏலூர் என்ற கிராமத்தில். அங்கு ராஜஸ்ரீயினுடைய அப்பா ஸ்டேஷன் மாஸ்டராக இருந்தார். இவருடன் கூட பிறந்தது ஒரே ஒரு அக்கா மட்டும் தான். அப்போதே அவருக்கு திருமணமாகி பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தார்கள். ராஜஸ்ரீக்கு பத்து வயதிருக்கும் பொழுது சென்னைக்கு வந்தார். அப்போ தி.நகரில் ராஜஸ்ரீ இருந்த தெருவில் தான் நடிகை ஜமுனா, கிருஷ்ணகுமாரி, ஹீரோ செல்லம் என தெலுங்கு நடிகர்கள் வீடும் இருந்தது.

“நாக தேவதை’ படத்தில் ஜமுனாவின் சின்ன வயசு கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தார். ஒரே பாட்டுல சின்ன வயசுல இருந்து பெரிய வயசுக்கு மாறுவது மாதிரி காட்சி. அது தான் ராஜஸ்ரீ நடித்த முதல் படம். அதன்பிறகு ஏவி.எம்மில் ராஜஸ்ரீயை நிரந்தர நடிகையாக ஒப்பந்தம் செய்தார்கள். மாதச் சம்பளம். இந்த நேரத்தில் சித்தூர் வி.நாகய்யா “பக்த ராமதாஸ்’ என்று தெலுங்கில் ஒரு படம் எடுத்தார். அந்தப் படத்தில் கண்ணாம்பாவுக்கு ஜூனியராக  நடித்தார்.

அதன் பிறகு தமிழில் கதாநாயகியாக அறிமுகமானது “காதலிக்க நேரமில்லை’ படத்தில்தான். அந்தப் படத்தில் ராஜஸ்ரீ க்கு வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது.படம் சூப்பர் ஹிட்டா போனதால் அதை அப்படியே தெலுங்கில் எடுக்கப்பட்டது. அதில் ராஜஸ்ரீ யும், காஞ்சனாவும் தமிழில் நடித்த அதே கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தனர். அதே படம் இந்தியில் “பியார் கியே ஜான்’னு எடுத்தார்கள். அப்போதும் ராஜஸ்ரீயின் கேரக்டரை அவரே இந்தியில நடித்தார். மூன்று மொழிகளிலும் படம் நல்ல ஹிட். ஆனால் தெலுங்கில் மட்டும் பிளாக் அண்ட் வொயிட்டில் எடுத்தார்கள்.

“பாமா விஜயம்’,ஊட்டி வரை உறவு, “பூவா தலையா’, “அனுபவி ராஜா அனுபவி’, சிவாஜியுடன் “நீலவானம்’ எஸ்.எஸ்.ஆருடன் “பூம்புகார்’, ஜெயசங்கருடன் “செல்வமகள்’ என்று நிறைய தமிழ்ப் படத்தில் நடித்துள்ளார் ராஜஸ்ரீ.

எம்.ஜி.ஆருடன் முதன் முதலில் “கலையரசி’ என்ற படத்தில் நடித்தார். அதில் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். டூயல் ரோல் நடித்திருந்தார். ஒரு ஜோடி பி.பானுமதி, இன்னொரு ஜோடி ராஜஸ்ரீ. அதற்குப் பிறகு அவரோடு நடித்தப் படம் “குடியிருந்த கோவில்’. சிறிய இடைவெளிக்குப்பிறகு அவரோடு “பட்டிக்காட்டு பொன்னையா’, “நேற்று இன்று நாளை’, “நாளை நமதே’ போன்ற படங்களில் நடித்தார். தமிழில் ராஜஸ்ரீ கொஞ்சப் படங்களே நடித்திருந்தாலும் எல்லாமே நல்ல ஹிட் படங்கள்தான். தெலுங்கு, மலையாளம், கன்னட என பல்வேறு மொழிப்படங்களில் நடித்ததனால் நிறைய தமிழ் படங்கள் நடிக்கவில்லை.அதனால் சிவாஜிகணேசன், எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் நிறைய படங்களை இழந்துவிட்டார் ராஜஸ்ரீ. அப்படியிருந்தும் கிட்டதட்ட 300 படங்கள்ல நடித்துள்ளார்.

தமிழில் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். நடித்த “நாளை நமதே’ படம் தான் ராஜஸ்ரீ யினுடைய கடைசிப் படம். அதில் “நாளை நமதே’ன்னு வரும் பாடலில் மட்டும் தான் நடித்துள்ளார். இவரது கணவர் கல்யாணத்துக்குப் பிறகு நடிக்க வேண்டாம் என்று சொல்லிட்டார்.அதனால் இவரது கணவர் இறந்த பிறகு கூட ராஜஸ்ரீ நடிக்க விரும்பவில்லை.

இவரது கணவர் அரசியலில் இருந்தார். வெங்கல்ராவ் முதல்வராக இருந்த காலத்தில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியில் அமைச்சராக இருந்தார். என்.டி.ராமராவ் ஆட்சியில் இருந்தபோது கூட எதிர்க் கட்சியில் இருந்தார்.

1983-ல என் மகன் சின்னக் குழந்தையாக இருக்கும்போதே ராஜஸ்ரீயின் கணவர் இறந்துவிட்டார். அதன் பிறகு ஹைதராபாத், விசாகப்பட்டனத்தில் கொஞ்ச நாள் இருந்தார். 1991-இல் தான் மறுபடியும் சென்னை வந்துள்ளார். இங்கு வந்து பத்து வருஷம் யாருடனும் பேசுவதில்லை. எங்கேயும் போவதுமில்லை. நிறைய பேருக்கு ராஜஸ்ரீ இருப்பதே தெரியாது. ராஜஸ்ரீ எங்கேயாவது கடைவீதிக்குப் போனால் கூட கண்டுபிடிப்பதில்லை.

அதன் பிறகு 2009-இல் இவரது பையனுக்கு திருமணம் செய்துள்ளார். அப்போது எல்லாரையும் கூப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார். அப்போது  ஜெயலலிதாவும் சென்றிருக்கிறார். ரொம்ப நேரம் பொறுமையாக இருந்து நிகழ்ச்சிகளைப் பார்த்துட்டு பையனை ஆசிர்வாதம் செய்துவிட்டுப் போயுள்ளார். ஜெயலலிதாதான் இவரைப் பார்த்துட்டு “திரும்பிப் பார்க்கிறேன்’ நிகழ்ச்சியில் பேட்டி எடுத்துக்கொள்ள சொல்லி வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

30 வருஷமாக ராஜஸ்ரீயை யாருமே பார்க்கவில்லை, இவரது முகமே மறந்து போய் இருக்கும். ராஜஸ்ரீயை யாருக்கும் அடையாளம் கூட தெரியாது. அதனால் வேண்டாம் என்று மறுத்துள்ளார். ஆனால் ஜெயலலிதா விடவில்லை. பேட்டி கொடுத்தார். அப்பறம்தான் ராஜஸ்ரீ இருப்பதே வெளியே தெரிய வந்தது.

Rajasree (Telugu: మెజెస్టి,AUGUST,31 born 1945), 

also known as Rajasri or Rajashri, is a noted South Indian film actress from 1956 to 1979. She is particularly famous for her portrayal as princess in several folklore Telugu movies opposite N. T. Rama Rao and Tadepalli Lakshmi Kanta Rao and for acting alongside Ravichandran in the Tamil comedy films – Neeyum Nannum, Kadhalikka Neram Illai and Delhi Mappilai. Notable among Rajasri's roles in non-folklore social films in Tamil are as Nimmi in Tamil hit comedy film Kaadhalikka Neramillai, remade as Preminchi Choodu in Telugu, as movie star Bhama in Tamil film Bama Vijayam. She was credited as Gracy in the Malayalam movies she starred in her career since her debut film Bharya (1962) directed by Kunchakko. Rajasree went on to do 200 films spread across the languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam (as Gracy) and Hindi from beginning of 1956 to 1979.

Rajsree first appeared as a child artiste in the Tamil film Naga Devadhai in 1956. She worked as child artiste in films like Bhaktha Ambarisha(1959) and Mangalyam(1960) in Telugu, Aasha Sundari(1960) in Kannada, Petraval Kanda Peruvazhvu (1960)and Baktha Sabari(1960) in Tamil. She debuted as the supporting young heroine with the Malayalam film Bharya (1962). Her character was named Gracy. With the success of her debut Malayalam film, Rajsree was always credited throughout her Malayalam film career as Gracy. Some of her famous Malaylam movies include Kadalamma (1963), Rebecca (1963), Pazhassi Raja (1964), Shakuntala (1965). However, she was cast only as supporting and second lead actress in Tamil films like Sengamala Theevu (1962), Nichaya Thaamboolam (1962), Thendral Veesum (1962), Kalai Arasi(1963), Yarukku Sondham (1963), Kattu Maina (1963) in the period 1962–63. Her portrayal as the courtesean Madhavi in the film Poompuhar brought her new recognition as supporting actress in 1964. It was the film Kadhalikka Neram Illai in 1964, which made her a household name as the main lead heroine. She started receiving more Tamil films from 1964 onwards.

However, she continued to be very selective as far as her choice of doing Malayalam movies was concerned. Her notable films in Malayalam as the lead heroine include Jail (1966), Kadamattathachan (1966), Anarkali (1966), Udhyogastha (1967), Karutha Rathrikal (1967), Kadal (1968), Dial 2244 (1968), Urangatha Sundary (1969), Sree Guruvayoorappan (1972 film), Sreemurukan, Devi Kanyaakumaari (1974). She did about 30 movies in Malayalam. Her last Malayalm film was Vishwaroopam (1978).

It was the Tamil comic classic, `Kaadhalikka Neramillai,' that catapulted Rajasree to national fame. She quoted in an interview "When I got a call from such a big banner as Chitralaya asking me to be present at the studio the next morning, I couldn't believe my ears. Many artistes had been considered for the role, I had heard. The song, `Anubavam Pudhumai,' was the sequence that was shot first. They liked it and I did the film,". Rajasree went on to play the same role in Telugu with Akkini Nageswara Rao and in Hindi with Shashi Kapoor — she was the only one to repeat the role in the remakes. She quoted in interview "I remember Nagesh pulling my leg often shouting out `Dhigilazhagi' whenever I was on the sets,". Hence both during the shooting of Bama Vijayam and everytime she met actor Nagesh, he would always call her as Dhiglazhagi as in the film, a thief refers to her by that name.

It was decided by Sridhar to remake the Kadhallikaa Neram Illai in Hindi as Pyar Kiye Jaa and he retained only Rajasree from the original. Her debut Hindi film was a major box office hit in 1966. This led to her receiving films in Hindi as well. However none of her 4 films in Hindi became a hit except for her debut Hindi film.

She made her debut in Telugu films with Constable Kuthuru (1962) opposite Kanta Rao. She was cast as the heroine of N.T.Rama Rao in films like Aggi Barata(1966), Pidugu Ramudu(1966), Aggi Veerudu(1969), Chitti Chellelu (1969).Her pairing opposite actor Kanta Rao was box office success. The pair Rajasree-Kanta Rao worked in Pakkalo Ballem (1965), Bangaru Timmaraju (1964), Saptaswaralu (1969), Pratigyna Palana (1966), Vijaya Simha(1965), Aggidora (1967), Bhoolokamlo Yamolokam (1966), Devudichchina Bharta (1968), Veera Pooja (1968), Ranabheri (1968), Aggimeeda Guggilam (1968), Oke Kutumbham (1970), Merupu Veerudu (1970), Maa Manchi Akkayya (1970), Prema Jeevulu, Bhale Ettu Chivaraku Chittu (1970), Raite Raju (1970).They worked in another 10 movies where they were not paired opposite each other.She did about 76 films in Telugu. Her last film in Telugu was Andame Anandham (1977).

Her debut film in Kannada was Kantheredu Nodu (1961). The Kannada film Thejaswini, produced by M.Pandaribai, made Rajasree a popular in Kannada film circle. She played second lead supporting roles in Kannada films like Swarna Gowri, Rathna Manjari, Karuneye Kutumbada Kannu, Chandra Kumara. She regularly starred in mythological period films like Santha Thukaram (1963), Shivarathri Mahathme, Shivagange Mahathme with either Rajkumar (actor) or Udaykumar or both in the lead roles. After achieving success in Tamil with Kadhalikka Neram Illai, she decided to do only lead heroine roles even in Kannada from 1964. Her Kannada films as lead heroine include Chandavalliya Thota, Satya Harishchandra (1965 Kannada film), Bala Nagamma (1966 film), Bhale Basava, Mr. Rajkumar (1970), Jwala Mohini, CID 72, C.I.D. Rajanna. She was part of the cast in 14 films in Kannada with Rajkumar (actor) in the lead role. She did 30 films in Kannada with her last movie being Devadhasi (1978).

She went to do comedy films as the lead heroine in Tamil to capitalize on her comic abilities like Bama Vijayam(1967), Anubavi Raja Anubavi (1967), Anubavam Pudhumai (1967), Neeyum Naanum (1968), Delhi Mapillai (1968). These films have developed classic cult status over the years. She then went on to get the second lead heroine roles in films with M.G.Ramachandran in the lead like Thaikku Thalaimagan (1967), Kudiyirundha Koyil (1968), Adimai Penn (1969), Pattikaattu Ponnaiya (1973), Netru Indru Naalai (1974) and Naalai Namadhe (1975). Her other notable films in Tamil include Kallum Kaniyagum, suspense thriller Selva Magal (1967), Siritha Mugam (1968), Patham Pasali (1970), Poi Sollathae (1971), Pattondru Ketten (1971), Yanai Valartha Vanampadi Magan, Amudha (1975), Veeduvarai Uravu (1976). Her last film in Tamil was Iravu 12 Mani (1978). She did more than 50 films in Tamil.

When she received MGR award in 2004 she quoted: "I've done three films with the CM J.Jayalalitha, and I've also acted with her mother Sandhya as her daughter."

Personal life[edit]

Rajasree hails from a village in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Her mother tongue is Telugu. She was born with a sister and her father was a railway station master. Rajasree was ten years old when she came to Chennai. Rajasree's husband died suddenly when her child was just four. Yet the actress has kept up her promise to him to this day! "Many ask me why I can't do television now? But I'm reluctant," she says. However, she has not severed ties with the film world. "I still have many friends from the industry. Saroja Devi calls up whenever she's in town. In 2004 Sharada, Vanisri, Jayapradha, Sachu, Padmini, Rajasulochana and I met over lunch. In fact it was Sachu who first called me up and told me about the award," she says. Rajasree spends her time in meditation and being a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba, people can often spot her at Sundaram, their Chennai centre. But today she is a picture of contentment, leading a relaxed life and taking care of her old sister. In 2012, she along-with her friends Saroja Devi, Kanchana, Jamuna, P.Susheela, Anjali Devi, Rajasulochana, Sowcar Janaki, Sechu, Cho Ramaswamy, Jamuna, Vijayakumari met Jayalalithaa at personal reseidence Veda Nilayam of Jayalalithaa.[2]
