Mynavathi (26 July 1935 – 10 November 2012) was an Indian film and television actress. She made her first screen appearance as an actor in the 1955 Kannada film Santa Sakhu and acted in over 100 Kannada films. She was the younger sister of another popular Kannada actress Pandari Bai. 

She became popular after her role in the 1959 Kannada film Abba Aa Hudugi, which co-starred Rajkumar and her sister Pandari Bai and was directed by H.L.N. Simha. In the film, she played the role of an autocratic girl who hates men. It was based on William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew.[1]

After her debut in 1955, Mynavathi appeared in Bhakta Vijaya, Hari Bhakta and Rayara Sose, all the films that had Rajkumar playing the lead role. She has acted alongside other greats of Kannada cinema like Kalyan Kumar and Udaykumar, with Sivaji Ganesan in Tamil films. 

Her other popular films include Kacha Devayani, Naane Bhagyavathi, Anuraadha, Annapurna, Sarvajnamurthy, Amma, Muthaide Bhagya and Obbarigintha Obbaru. Launching "Yantra Media" in the 1980s with her sons, Mynavathi entered the television industry. She has acted in the television serials Amma, Manetana, Mahayagna and Sumangali.[2]

Death[edit]

Mynavathi died on 10 November 2012 at the BGS Global Hospital, Bangalore from cardiac arrest.[1] The 77-year old actress' end came at a private hospital in the small hours, family sources said.She is survived by a son and a daughter.
Mynavathi had played supporting and comedy roles in about 500 films in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.
Several personalities from Kannada film industry paid their last respects to the actress.

கர்நாடகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவரான மைனாவதி தமிழிலும் கன்னடத்திலும் ஏராளமான படங்களில் நடித்துள்ளார். டி.ஆர்.மகாலிங்கம் ஜோடியாக இவர் நடித்த மாலையிட்ட மங்கை' அதில் முக்கியமானதாகும். அந்தப் படத்தில் இடம் பெற்ற ''செந்தமிழ் தேன்மொழியாள் நிலாவென சிரிக்கும் மலர்க்கொடியாள்'' பாடலும் அதற்கு மைனாவதி ஆடிய நடனமும் இன்றும் பெரும் புகழ் கொண்டவை. 

. ‘வண்ணக்கிளி’ படத்தில் பிரேம் நசீருக்கு ஜோடியாக நடித்தார். தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, கன்னடம் உட்பட 500 படங்களுக்கு மேல் நடித்துள்ள மைனாவதி, பெங்களூரில் குடும் பத்துடன் வசித்து வந்தார்.சில நாட்களாக மைனாவதிக்கு உடல் நலக் குறைவு ஏற்பட்டு பெங்களூரில் தனியார் மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தார். ஆனால், இன்று காலை மாரடைப்பால் காலமானார். 

மைனாவதியின் மகன் ஷ்யாம்சுந்தர் சமீபத்தில் காலமானார். இவர் கன்னடப் படங்களில் நடித்து வந்ததோடு டிவி தயாரிப்பாளராகவும் இருந்தார். அன்று முதலே மைனாவதியின் உடல் நிலை மோசமாகி வந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. அதிகாலை திடீரென்று அவருக்கு நெஞ்சுவலி ஏற்பட் டது. டாக்டர்கள் சோதனை செய்த போது, அவர் ஏற்கனவே இறந்துவிட்டது தெரிந்தது. மறைந்த மைனாவதியின் உடல் நேற்று மாலை தகனம் செய்யப்பட்டது
