Personal Life
Surja Bala Hijam was born on 9th June 1991 as the daughter of Mr. Hijam Biramangol and Mrs. Hijam Suniti Devi at West Imphal, Manipur, India. Her father is a business man, while mother a home maker. She has three siblings – one elder sister and two younger brothers. Bala is a good reader and also listens to music during her leisure time.

Acting Career

Bala made her acting debut at the age of 17 with the Manipuri film ‘Tellanga Mamei’ directed by Oken Amakcham. She won the Special Jury Award 2011 initiated by Film Academy Manipur (FAM). With 30 films in her credit, Bala is one of the leading actresses in Manipuri film industry.

Her popular films are ‘Imagi Laman Singamdre’, ‘Loibataare Ta Raju’, ‘Luhongbagi Ahing’, ‘Mami’, ‘Yaiskulgee Pakhang Angaoba’, ‘Mounao Thoibi’, ‘Tamoyaigee Ebecha’, ‘Sathiba Danger’, ‘23rd Century:Ngasigee Matungda’, ‘Toro Thoibi’, ‘Waarookok’, ‘Eikhoi Pabunggi’ and ‘Wari Loidri’. She made her debut in Malayalam with the film ‘Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi’. She played Asi, a native of Nagaland studying studying in an Engineering college in Kerala.
