Manushi Chhillar (born 14 May 1997) is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World 2017. She was previously crowned Femina Miss India 2017 on 25 June 2017. Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to win Miss World 2000

Manushi Chhillar created history and made India proud by becoming the fifth Indian ever to win the coveted title of Miss World 2017 at a grand ceremony held on November 18, 2017 at the Sanya City Arena, in China. The competition saw 121 participants from all over the world participating and giving a stiff competition. Manushi succeeded the crown from Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico who was appointed Miss World 2016 in Washington, D.C, United States.

Manushi was seen competing for various other sub-titles at the pageant like Miss World Beauty with a Purpose, Miss World Talent, Miss World Fashion – Top Model, Miss World Head to Head Challenge and Miss World Top Fitness/ Sports. India has won this pageant after 17 years, when Priyanka Chopra bagged it in the year 2000. Apart from her, Diana Hayden bagged the title of Miss World in 1997, Aishwariya Rai in 1994 and Yukta Mookhey in 1999.

An overjoyed Manushi said, “I still can’t believe that I have won the Miss World title. Being just the fifth Indian ever to win this title internationally makes me immensely proud and ecstatic. I am very happy for the support of my family, friends and fans that supported me through this journey. I am thankful to The Times Group and Miss India Organization for giving me this opportunity and guiding me throughout my exciting journey. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my well-wishers.”

From being a simple Delhi girl to representing India at Miss World 2017, Manushi’s journey has been an inspiring one. She has been trained by the best experts in the fashion and glamour industry who have contributed to her success. 

Miss World 2017 was judged by a reputed panel of jury consisting of experts from various countries.

Manushi, who was also the winner of Miss India 2017, made her through a total of 118 contestants to bag the coveted title. She was crowned by Miss World 2016, Miss Puerto Rico, Stephanie Del Valle.

After winning a position among the top 5 contestants, Manushi was asked which profession deserved the biggest salary and why. To this, she replied, ''A mother deserves the highest respect. It's not always about cash but also the love and respect that we give to someone. My mother has been a huge inspiration to me. I think it is the job of a mother that deserves the biggest salary.''

It was her heart-warming reply to the final question that won her this prestige.
