Divya Dutta is an Indian model and film actress, whose works are well known in Hindi and Punjabi films. She made her debut in Hindi cinema in 1994 with the film "Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna".
She has played in more than 70 films, which also includes two international films. She has also appeared in Malayalam and English films. Recently, she was seen in Manoj Bajpayee starrer bollywood movie Traffic.









Biography

Actress Divya Dutta was born on 25 September 1977 in Ludhiana, Punjab. She studied her schooling in Sacred Heart Convent, Ludhiana. She has much love over acting and modelling, so she has emerged in the modelling industry. Later, she put a step farward into the films and has bagged two Star Screen and FilmfareAward nominations for her works.

Acting career[edit]

Dutta made her film debut in 1994 with the film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. She followed this by playing the supporting role of Bindiya in the 1995 film Surakshaa, alongside Suniel Shetty, Aditya Pancholi, Saif Ali Khan and Sheeba. The film performed very well in the overseas markets, especially Norway and Sweden. The same year, Dutta earned her first leading role opposite Salman Khan in the 1995 drama film Veergati, portraying the role of Sandhya. However, the film was declared a disaster at the box office.


The following year, Dutta played supporting roles in three releases- Agni Sakshi alongside Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar and Manisha Koirala, Chhote Sarkar alongside Govinda and Shilpa Shetty, and Ram Aur Shyam. In 1997, she played small roles in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, alongside Rani Mukerji, as Sharda's sister and in Daava as Deepa, alongside Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. Dutta had four releases in 1998, playing small roles in Gharwali Baharwali and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, but appearing as the female lead, Milli, in the film Iski Topi Uske Sarr. However, her performance was criticized as "wooden".[6] She also played the role of a prostitute in the Pamela Rooks drama Train to Pakistan set during the time of the partition of India, in 1947.

In Traffic

Traffic was a 2016 bollywood thriller film directed by Rajesh Pillai. The film featured Manoj Bajpayee and Jimmy Shergill in lead roles.
It was a remake of the 2011 Malayalam film of same name. Manoj has played the role as a traffic police constable. Divya Dutta has played the role of a mother of the girl who requires a heart.

Family

Divya Dutta's mother name is Dr.Nalini Dutta, who was a government officer and doctor. She lost her father when she was 7 years old. She has a one brother Rahul Dutta, who is a doctor. Her mother passed away after a post surgery complication in January 2016.

Marriage/Husband

Divya Dutta was married to Lt. Commander Sandeep Shergill in May 2005. They could not make it together and divorced afterwards. Currently, she is single and is not dating anyone.

Career

Divya Dutta is a successful model before entering into the cinema world. She has modeled for regional television commercials in the state of Punjab. She also works as an anchor on television and was seen playing roles in the serials.





In 2001, she has modeled in the video of "Romeo" by a regional music duo Basement Jaxx from London, England. She made her big screen debut in 1994 and gained much recognition with the film Shaheed-E-Mohabbat. She also dubbed for actress Lisa Ray in 2001, for the movie Kasoor.
